A unique three-dimensional matrix has been developed using the affinity with silver and an innovative polymeric substrate.
This biomaterial in the form of hydrogel has unique viscoelastic properties and silver in ionic form is the linking point of the network. Modifying the ratio between silver and the substrate we have obtained a family of products with different viscoelastic properties. Antimicrobial activity typical of silver ions is validated in vitro on Gram + and Gram – strain bacteria. This ingredient gets a broad range of Medical Devices applications, as barrier agent against bacterial colonization or biofilms growth.
